In the spring of 2007, The Brakes took on dual city residencies, performing weekly in New York City and Philadelphia. Playing at the Knitting Factory in NYC every Tuesday and at MilkBoy in Ardmore, PA every Thursday, the band transitioned from famed NYC rock club to intimate listening room, often times rearranging their songs for each different setting. Each show was recorded and the best versions from both cities were assembled together for a cohesive live statement. Mixed by Tommy Joyner at MilkBoy Studios the resulting album reflects the different envionments in which the songs were recorded, together crafting "A Tale of Two Cities". The Brakes are a genuine rock and roll band at first glance.
