Cowboy Simple is the latest obsessional project for iconoclastic, maverick musicians Joshua Beagley & Roland Kapferer, writers and performers of one of Australia’s biggest ever pop songs, Apple Eyes, which absolutely dominated Australian airwaves in the mid-90’s, exploding across indie & mainstream radio, and were a foundational part of introducing American funk, hip hop and r’n’b influences into the Australian musical vernacular, through their 3 wild albums with SWOOP. In 2024, Beagley and Kapferer significantly reunited over a relatively new-found appreciation of American roots music, influenced by the New Orleans funk of The Meters to the diverse soul of The Band and the countrypolitan stylings of Glen Campbell and Charlie Rich. Starting Cowboy Simple on a whim as a vehicle to play this sort of music and ultimately write new music,
