Rubita

Originally based in Dunedin, New Zealand, Rubita played guitar and sung with funk rap act ‘Cinco’ before stepping out to concentrate on her own music. Song writing has always been Rubita’s greatest strength and consistently delivers raw picturesque lyrics, combined with sophisticated jazzy-pop music. Rubita’s pop sensibilities are enhanced by her attraction to jazz, and her musical knowledge that came from studying composition for four years. Rubita recently graduated from the University of Otago (under the tutelage of musicians such as Graeme Downs and Rob Burns) with a degree in composition and performance: the first female to graduate with a major in electric guitar.
