G_Tano and Monkey Stick come together at Motley Bauhaus, Carlton, on Friday 11 July for a night of groove-driven live music blending funk, afrobeat, jazz and psychedelic rhythms into an energetic dancefloor-focused experience.
Headlining the night, G_Tano delivers its signature multicultural fusion of funk, soul, acid jazz and powerful live improvisation. Known for explosive performances and deep rhythmic interplay, the Melbourne/Naarm collective has built a strong reputation across the local festival and live music circuit, with appearances at Port Fairy Jazz Festival, Newport Jazz Festival, Firelight Festival and the National Gallery of Victoria.
Opening the night is Monkey Stick, a new project featuring highly experienced musicians from Melbourne’s afrobeat, jazz and funk scene. Combining hypnotic grooves, rich percussion and expansive instrumental arrangements, the group brings a fresh but deeply rooted sound shaped by years of live performance experience.
