the word from the venue
A few months ago we held a workshop where we ran an (anonymous) survey. One of the questions was on the most important causes or charities to our artists. An answer that was consistently present was violence against women / domestic violence. Our values as a label are about doing what we can to do the right thing, and supporting our artists - not just in ‘getting heard’ but also feeling heard. In the last weeks we’ve been in contact with Respect Victoria for their advice on how we can make that happen right now and in the future. On Saturday July 18th,, our next Galaxy show will be in support of SAFE + EQUAL - a peak body for Victorian organisations that specialise in family and gender-based violence. We will have guest speakers from Respect Victoria between performances of some incredible artists. From 1pm-11pm. Join us for Galaxy-Fest ‘26 - Our first all-day event. Midday to midnight. Non-stop alt-pop. 50% of all ticket sales will be donated to Safe + Equal - the peak body for Victorian organisations that specialise in family and gender-based violence. Get your tickets now for an eclectic line-up spanning R&B, electro, pop, punk and acoustic vibes. Grace Lloyd is a pop-star in the making, whose performances leave a lasting impression. She released her first single on Galaxy in June - ‘To Be a Lady’ is like reading the diary of a young woman trying to live up to the unrealistic expectations of being an It Girl. https://youtu.be/qe22_zsKV-g?si=e0oJfZkBfKztrSpe https://www.instagram.com/gracelloyd_/ Mia is a singer-songwriter who takes you on an honest, captivating journey through life’s emotional rollercoaster. Mia’s songs are upfront, upbeat, and probably up your street. She has an incredible voice and a brilliant band too. https://www.instagram.com/mia.savannah.music/ Lana rocks. She and her band deliver powerful, unapologetically direct songs full of attitude and tongue-in-cheek vitriol aimed at the wrong-doers of the past. Her voice, lyrics and main-character energy are so convincing, everyone leaves a show on ‘Team Lana’. https://www.instagram.com/musicbylanaa/ Devshi is a poet with a siren’s voice - a multi-instrumentalist whose music paints pictures that illustrate the narrative of the story. Whether it’s a heartstring-pulling ballad, a baroque-esque sonnet, or a gothic prog-rock opus, you can tell it is devshi by her signature. https://www.instagram.com/devshi.ruvi/ Warning - if you catch one song of Mekyja’s set, you can’t leave. Each one of her stories is a cliffhanger, luring you into the next episode. Mekyja is a curious, innovative musician and producer, whose songs are so immersive they feel like the soundtrack to life. https://youtu.be/iMvDpiKchq0?si=vK4vIHAw-CNPgdG4 https://www.instagram.com/mekyja/ K*ahna is big part of the Galaxy family. She has collaborated on many releases - writing, producing, or doing vocal cameos. On her own planet, she is a new-wave riot grrrrl whose songs float somewhere between darkwave, hard rock and 80's indo-pop. https://snaccsize.wixsite.com/kiahnaofficial Larni is a captivating R&B vocalist and writer who shares powerful storytelling through her music. Her tracks delve into deep emotions and experiences, resonating with listeners and offering a narrative we can all connect with. https://www.instagram.com/larnixdemaria/ Mils Mason is a new kid on the block. Mils Mason is a unique talent. Once you hear a few of Mils songs in succession, you won’t be able to label her. Come give it a try. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y6HfVLI_ilU https://www.instagram.com/mils_mason/ Adaiah Sabat is a relatively new arrival to the Australian music scene, but has wasted no time in making people marvel at what an incredible talent she is. Her voice, songs, and musicianship do feel like she is from another world, and you should check her out while she is still visiting ours. https://www.instagram.com/adaiahsabat/ Amy Elliott is a name everyone will speak in a year or so. She is a folk-country acoustic singer-songwriter with a take on the world that is relatable to everyone, but no-one puts into words like her. Amy is releasing an album later this year and her performing at this event is giving “I was there” vibes. https://www.instagram.com/amyelliott_music/
