ELISION and ANAM

ELISION’s three-year partnership with ANAM has become a meeting point between generations of performers who share a drive to explore new forms of musical expression.This program begins with Milica Djordjević's Nalet, introducing a gripping and persevering energy as the ensemble pushes determinedly against an unseen resistance, delineative of Djordjević's struggle when composing this piece. A duet between clarinet and cello written by Liza Lim settles the atmosphere in an intimate intertwining of tone, register, and ambience. Xenakis puts a spin on the sound an orchestra can create in Jalons, each movement developing upon rhythmic construction and extended techniques to allude to what one considers to be "(orchestral) colour".
