Founded in 2017 by bass player and composer Elizabeth Obando and pianist and arranger Vashti Sivell, Calle Luna has become a powerhouse in Melbourne’s Latin music scene. This dynamic band brings together exceptional musicians from Cuba, Colombia, Australia, and Italy, creating a vibrant fusion of salsa, timba, and cumbia, enriched with original compositions and electrifying arrangements. The band’s unique sound is shaped by Carlitos Way, whose expertise in Timba adds a dynamic and powerful edge, and Yunior Madden, who brings the authentic essence of Cuban rhythms. Holding down the rhythm section with incredible precision and energy is Jethro Negrón, whose drumming adds depth, groove, and fire to Calle Luna’s explosive live performances.
