Chris Pappas

Chris Pappas Trio is a Melbourne-based jazz trio featuring Chris Pappas on tenor saxophone, Nashua Lee on guitar and Charlie Rank on double bass. The trio explores a mix of original compositions and jazz standards, drawing inspiration from the exploratory music of Joe Henderson, Sonny Rollins and Wayne Shorter as well as groups such as the Melissa Aldana quartet and the Joe Lovano trio. The trio have been performing together for over three years and they have established a unique connection where they shift between melody, rhythm and improvisation through constant interaction between the three musicians, creating collective interplay through musical conversation and melodic improvisation. Expect an evening of compositions that demand the freedom of improvisation and some unique musical surprises.
