“repetitive jazz cycles meet restless improvisation, hovering between ambiguity and sudden flashes of clarity”
event details
Gabriella Hill is a saxophonist, clarinetist and composer originally from the Northern Rivers of NSW. She moved to Sydney in 2022 to study jazz at the Sydney Conservatorium and has since become involved in the city’s thriving jazz/improvised music scene. Seemingly repetitive harmonic and rhythmic cycles are contrasted with fluctuating and sporadic improvisation, which at times creates a sense of the music being perpetually undefined yet marked by moments of improvised and compositional clarity.
