Next Wave’s 2024-25 Kickstart artists invite you into their worlds for a sharing of works-in-progress at Brunswick Mechanics Institute. Kickstart is Next Wave’s flagship program for early-career artists whose practices are shaped by community, experimentation and non-conventional knowledge. Over 18 months, our Kickstart artists have been offered what’s so often missing: time, relationships, mentoring and the freedom to test, fail, play and dream in place, with and from their own contexts and communities. These showings are not polished endings but rather vital moments to see artworks mid-flight: where ideas are stretched, tested and reshaped, where audiences play an active role in the exchange.
