This week Kook Joey, Maeve Grieve and Hannie Day are stopping by for a show, all playing stripped back sets..
Kook Joey is an Australian indie project weaving together sun-drenched folk, exotic textures, and laid-back country sensibilities into music that feels like a slow holiday you never want to end. With dreamy melodies and storytelling that balances whimsy and introspection, the project explores themes of escape, nostalgia, and human connection. Blending organic instrumentation with subtle psychedelic flourishes, Kook Joey crafts songs that are both comforting and adventurous—soundtracks for long drives, 60’s seaside afternoons, and quiet moments of reflection. Her second EP, released in January 2026, received editorial playlisting recognition from Spotify and Apple Music alongside airplay support from Triple J, earning critical acclaim for its dreamy storytelling and organic sonic palette. The EP’s success was followed by a headline show at The Bergy Bandroom, further cementing her growing reputation as a captivating live performer.
Maeve Grieve is a Melbourne based singer, songwriter and guitarist blending jazz, folk and alternative rock into a distinctive, genre defying sound. Originally from Tasmania, her music pairs intricate guitar work with evocative, narrative driven Songwriting. Her debut EP Midnight Commute (released November 13, 2024) resonated strongly with audiences, with its launch show at The Gaso Upstairs selling out and the release receiving airplay and features across Melbourne and national radio. A first-class graduate of the Jazz and Improvisation Honours program at The University of Melbourne, Maeve’s artistry is shaped by deep musical study and fearless innovation. Her work has been recognised with significant accolades, including the 2023 New Frontiers Award at the Melbourne Women’s International Jazz Festival and the 2024 LUMINA Composition Award. Her
