John Jorgenson is one of the world’s foremost ambassadors of Gypsy jazz, bringing the spirit of Django Reinhardt to audiences with extraordinary authenticity, virtuosity, and passion. Since discovering Django’s music in 1979, Jorgenson has immersed himself in the language and tradition of Gypsy jazz, developing a distinctive voice that honours its roots while expanding its possibilities. Through the acclaimed John Jorgenson Quintet, he has become a leading interpreter of the genre, performing Django classics, French musette, and original compositions inspired by the Manouche tradition. His artistry has taken him to the heart of Gypsy jazz history, including headlining the prestigious Django Reinhardt Jazz Festival in Samois-sur-Seine, France—the town where Django lived and where the world’s most celebrated Gypsy jazz festival is held.
